Over the two years we have been running we have enabled nearly 300 people to get back onto the sand.

Donations

We are really grateful to everyone that donates to us to keep our service going. All of our services are provided free of charge to our users.

If you would like to donate to us you can now donate through our “Just Giving” on our Facebook page - in the search just type in “Just Giving”.

You can donate by cheque. Please make cheques payable to Dornoch Beach Wheelchairs and send this to our charities registered address - c/o Highfield House, Evelix Road, Dornoch, IV25 3HR.

You can also donate at our Beach Shed when it is open.

Volunteering

Our volunteers are key to what we do. They make our charity work.

Our volunteers hire out our specialist beach wheelchairs to let people get on the beach with friends and family, or with their club, group or school.

They arrive at the beach hut, get the wheelchairs ready and set up the hoist if needed. Then they greet our customers with a smile making sure that they are happy and comfortable with the wheelchair and equipment that they need to get on the beach.

It is quite a straightforward role although not without its occasional challenges. Our volunteers come from all walks of life and no particular experience is needed, rather just a desire to help people enjoy our beautiful beach.

Someone who likes meeting people and is flexible with their time is perfect!

Other volunteers help to run our market stall over the summer months, we also produce the “Dornoch Calendar” and run raffles and other fundraising events throughout the year.

We promote keeping our sea and beach free from plastic and litter by advertising beach cleans throughout the year. Maintaining our shed and chairs is also important.
